Iran, Saudi Arabia in tense buildup opposite Yemen’s Gulf of Aden shore: US air tankers refueling Saudi jets

Saudi-Iranian saber-rattling over Yemen has reached a dangerous peak, Thursday, April 9, the Saudi army spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Al-Assiri, warned: “Iranian ships have the right to be present in international waters, but won’t be allowed to enter Yemeni territorial waters.”This was Riyadh’s rapid-fire riposte for the Iranian decision to deploy its navy’s 34th Flotilla, consisting of the Alborz destroyer and the Bushehr helicopter carrier warship, in the Gulf of Aden opposite the Yemeni coast.
The Saudi general noted that Iran had not evacuated any of its citizens from Yemen because, he said, “they are all involved in training and arming the Houthis.”
IRANIAN AND SAUDI TENSIONS ARE BEING RATCHED UP! CHINESE, U.S., EGYPTIAN, BRITISH, FRENCH AND IRANIAN VESSELS ARE IN THIS REGION.

ALMOST A WEEK, I POSTED A BLOG POST HERE FROM DEBKAFILE REGARDING A REPORT THAT IRAN WAS SENDING WARSHIPS TO YEMEN. IN THAT POST I INDICATED THAT I WAS NOT SURE IF THE REPORT WAS ACCURATE, AS I COULD NOT FIND THIS NEWS ITEM ANY WHERE ELSE.
AS IT TURNS OUT TODAY, THIS SOURCE I POSTED ON HERE ALMOST A WEEK AGO WAS INDEED CORRECT.
THE SHIPS FROM WHAT I GATHER LEFT DURING THE LAST FEW DAYS, AND HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED NEAR YEMEN.
THE ZEROHEDGE LINK BELOW STATES THAT THEY ARE "PARKED" NEXT TO US AIRCRAFT CARRIERS, BUT THE SHIPS ARE IN FACT NOT IN YEMENI WATERS YET.
JUST 4 HOURS AGO, IN THE FOLLOWING POST BELOW, THE SAUDI SPOKESMAN FOR THE SAUDI MILITARY STATED THAT IRANIAN SHIPS WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER YEMENI WATERS.
THE FACE OFF IS INTENSE AS THE IRANIAN SHIPS NEAR YEMENI WATERS IT WILL INDEED CREATE THE PERFECT SITUATION FOR A TRIGGER EVENT.
ANY SMALL SKIRMISH COULD AND WOULD HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO QUICKLY INTENSIFY.
THIS SOMEWHAT REMINDS ME OF HOW THE CIVIL WAR IN THE U.S. BEGAN. LINCOLN SENT SUPPLY FORCES INTO FT. SUMTER AND ALMOST DARED THE SOUTH TO PREVENT THEM FROM DOING SO.

The resupply of Fort Sumter became the first crisis of the administration of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. He notified the Governor of South Carolina, Francis W. Pickens, that he was sending supply ships, which resulted in an ultimatum from the Confederate government: evacuate Fort Sumter immediately. Major Anderson refused to surrender. Beginning at 4:30 a.m. on April 12, the Confederates bombarded the fort from artillery batteries surrounding the harbor. Although the Union garrison returned fire, they were significantly outgunned and, after 34 hours, Major Anderson agreed to evacuate. There was no loss of life on either side as a direct result of this engagement, although a gun explosion during the surrender ceremonies on April 14 caused two Union deaths.
Following the battle, there was widespread support from both North and South for further military action. Lincoln's immediate call for 75,000 volunteers to suppress the rebellion resulted in an additional four southern slave states also declaring their secession and joining the Confederacy. The Civil War had begun.

The probability of a major escalation over the latest proxy Middle Eastern civil war just escalated substantially.
While it has been widely reported that the United States has been accelerating its weapons supply to the Saudi-led coalition striking rebels in Yemen as a sign of how foreign powers are deepening their involvement in the conflict, the biggest regional backer of the Houthi rebels, the state of Iran, had been mostly inert. Until this morning, when as AP reports, Iran dispatched a naval destroyer and another vessel Wednesday to waters near Yemen.

Iranian ships have the right to be present in international waters, but won’t be allowed to enter Yemeni territorial waters, spokesman of the Saudi-led anti-Houthi coalition forces said Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters in Riyadh, Saudi Brigadier General Ahmed Asiri made the remarks in a reference to Iran’s decision to send two warships to the Gulf of Aden earlier in the day.
Iran, which denies arming the Houthis, said the warships were sent there to protect Iranian shipping.
During his daily military briefing on Operation Decisive Storm, Asiri said the coalition reserved the right to respond to any attempt by Iran to arm Houthis.
Meanwhile, Asiri confirmed that a medical shipment had docked in Aden on Wednesday.
He also said Yemen needed to end the Houthi coup in order to fight al-Qaeda militants.

Washington (AFP) - The US military command that scans North America's skies for enemy missiles and aircraft plans to move its communications gear to a Cold War-era mountain bunker, officers said.
The shift to the Cheyenne Mountain base in Colorado is designed to safeguard the command's sensitive sensors and servers from a potential electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, military officers said.

Widespread power outages hit across Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, affecting government and privately-owned buildings and the city's public transit rail system intermittently early in the afternoon.
The power outage, which is affecting about 2,000 customers in the Washington area was caused by a small explosion and fire at a power substation in southern Maryland, according to local and U.S. officials.

IF you live in South Florida, the black military helicopters buzzing over your city were not in your imagination — regardless of what the increasingly discredited establishment press has been claiming for years. A controversial military training drill took place last week in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that spooked more than a few residents, as well as analysts. Featuring Special Forces from various branches of the military working with local law enforcement, the drill involved, among other elements, rounding up civilians. And now, the training is coming under fire from locals and national media commentators as everything from an inconvenience and safety hazard to an ominous sign of trouble to come.
The “urban warfare” exercises had been announced earlier in the month without much fanfare by authorities and local media outlets. However, last week, a dramatic video of the dangerous drill, already viewed by hundreds of thousands of people, sparked widespread alarm about the true purpose of the exercises. A spokesman for the Tampa-based U.S. Special Operations Command cited in media reports downplayed the exercise as merely “routine” training for overseas missions. But more than a few critics say the Obama administration is actually up to no good — potentially even training to impose martial law and overt tyranny on the American people following some sort of crisis.
