Russia redeploys early warning jet to Belarus
22:32 March 15, 2014
Russia on Saturday redeployed a Beriev A-50 early warning aircraft to Belarus as part of a Belarusian-Russian air defense exercise, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.
"On March 15, Air Force and Air Defense units that are involved in the trials took up their air defense combat duty according to schedule. To reinforce the component of the Joint Regional System of Air Defense that is involved in the trials, a Russian A-50 early warning aircraft was redeployed to Baranovichi Airfield," the ministry said in a statement,
"The technical characteristics of the A-50 … make it possible to significantly increase the resources of radar reconnaissance, direction of Belarusian and Russian fighters to targets, and control of duty air defense forces," it said.

ONE OF THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT RUSSIA BELONGS TO IS THE CSTO. HERE IS SOME INFORMATION AS PER WIKIPEDIA REGARDING THE CSTO.
NOTE HOW BELARUS IS A MEMBER STATE AND THE CURRENT AND ONGOING COOPERATION THAT BOTH MEMBER STATES ARE HAVING.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO; Russian: Организация Договора о Коллективной Безопасности Organizatsiya Dogovora o Kollektivnoy Bezopasnosti) is an intergovernmental military alliance which was signed on 15 May 1992. In 1992, six post-Soviet states belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States—Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—signed the Collective Security Treaty. Three other post- Soviet states—Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Georgia—signed the next year and the treaty took effect in 1994. Five years later, six of the nine—all but Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Uzbekistan—agreed to renew the treaty for five more years, and in 2002 those six formally agreed to create the Collective Security Treaty Organization as a military alliance.

ALSO, RUSSIA IS A MEMBER OF THE SCO. OVER THE PAST 3 1/2 YEARS, I HAVE BEEN POSTING SEVERAL POSTS ON THIS BLOG IN REFERENCE TO THE JOINT MILITARY COOPERATION BETWEEN THESE MEMBER STATES.
NOTE THE TWO MAIN MEMBERS IN THE SCO ARE RUSSIA AND CHINA.
BOTH ORGANIZATIONS, THE CSTO AND THE SCO HAVE SIGNED MUTUAL AGREEMENTS THAT BENEFIT MEMBER NATIONS NOT ONLY IN ECONOMIC TRADE ZONES, BUT MORE IMPORTANT MILITARISTIC AGREEMENTS.
JUST LIKE NATO'S ARTICLE 5 THAT STATES IF A MEMBER STATE IS ATTACKED THEN THAT IS CONSIDERED AN ATTACK ON ALL MEMBER STATES, THE SCO AND THE CSTO HAVE THE SAME AGREEMENTS.
SO WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN A NATO STATE ATTACKS EITHER BELARUS OR RUSSIA ITSELF???
THE REST OF THE MEMBER STATES WILL JOIN IN.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation or SCO (simplified Chinese: 上海合作组织; traditional Chinese: 上海合作組織; pinyin: Shànghǎi Hézuò Zǔzhī; Russian: Шанхайская организация сотрудничества (ШОС), Shankhayskaya organizatsiya sotrudnichestva) is a Eurasian political, economic and military organisation which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Except for Uzbekistan, the other countries had been members of the Shanghai Five, founded in 1996; after the inclusion of Uzbekistan in 2001, the members renamed the organization.
Military activities
Over the past few years, the organisation's activities have expanded to include increased military cooperation, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism.[13]There have been a number of SCO joint military exercises. The first of these was held in 2003, with the first phase taking place in Kazakhstan and the second in China. Since then China and Russia have teamed up for large-scale war games in 2005 (Peace Mission 2005), 2007 and 2009, under the auspices of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. More than 4,000 Chinese soldiers participated at the joint military exercises in 2007 (known as "Peace Mission 2007") which took place in Chelyabinsk Russia near the Ural Mountains, as was agreed upon in April 2006 at a meeting of SCO Defence Ministers. Air forces and precision-guided weapons were also likely to be used. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said that the exercises would be transparent and open to media and the public. Following the war games' successful completion, Russian officials began speaking of India joining such exercises in the future and the SCO taking on a military role. Peace Mission 2010, conducted September 9–25 at Kazakhstan's Matybulak training area, saw over 5,000 personnel from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan conduct joint planning and operational maneuvers.[14]
The SCO has served as a platform for larger military announcements by members. During the 2007 war games in Russia, with leaders of SCO member states in attendance including Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russia's President Vladimir Putin used the occasion to take advantage of a "captive" audience: Russian strategic bombers, he said, would resume regular long-range patrols for the first time since the Cold War. "Starting today, such tours of duty will be conducted regularly and on the strategic scale", Putin said. "Our pilots have been grounded for too long. They are happy to start a new life".

Russian jets hold training exercises over Mediterranean- Interfax
March 14, 2014 5:18 AM EST
MOSCOW, March 14 (Reuters) - Russian fighter jets and helicopters have started training flights over the Mediterranean Sea, a Russian navy spokesman was quoted as saying on Friday.
Spokesman Vadim Serga told Interfax news agency the Northern Fleet's Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier was involved in the exercises, and the training included tactics for engaging aerial targets and other battle techniques.
He made no mention of Russia's standoff with Ukraine over the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, where Russian forces have taken control. The U.S. Navy has sent a guided-missile destroyer, the USS Truxtun, to the Black Sea on what it said was a routine deployment scheduled before the crisis in Ukraine.
